Vintage Enamel Diamond and Pearl Butterfly Earrings

Representations of butterflies have been popular for ages, dating back nearly 3,500 years ago to the Egyptian frescoes at Thebes. The beautiful butterfly is often associated with the human soul – signifying change, hope, and life.

These outstanding butterfly dangles (circa 1990) dazzle with shimmery sparkle. The butterflies are unmarked, but acid test for 18k gold, while the white gold pearl and diamond surmounts and posts (later additions) are 14k gold.

The butterflies are accented with iridescent enamel, post set pearls, and tiny diamond accents. They are suspended from a cascade of diamonds and with a split pearl in between. The largest round brilliant diamonds are approximately 0.18ct each and the total carat weight of the diamonds is approximately 0.50 ctw.

The earrings measure 1.3 inches from top to bottom by 0.6 inches wide, and they are in fantastic condition.

Materials: Diamond, Gold.
