Georgian Love Token Enamel Patch Box

This antique patch box (circa 1780-1800) features two birds on a branch beneath the phrase 'A Pledge of Love.'

The enamel box measures 1.35 inches by 1.65 inches wide and 1 inch tall. It is in good condition, however there are some chips and cracks in the enamel as depicted in the photos.

During the 18th century, patch boxes were common love tokens. The tiny porcelain boxes often expressed beautiful sentiments on the outside, while the inside held patches of gummed taffeta, used to cover blemishes or to decorate one's skin.

Materials: Base metal, Enamel.
