Antique Enamel Love Token Patch Box

This Georgian patch box (circa 1780) features pink and white enamel on base metal. The top of the box depicts an urn with the phrase 'The Gift is fmall (old English 'small') But Love is all.'.

It measures 1.3 inches by 1.6 inches wide and 0.9 inches high. The box is in good condition for its age with some wear and cracks in the enamel.

During the 18th century, patch boxes were common love tokens. The tiny porcelain boxes often expressed beautiful sentiments on the outside, while the inside held patches of gummed taffeta, used to cover blemishes or to decorate one's skin.

Materials: Base metal, Enamel.
