Antique Carved Coral Earrings | 10k Gold & Coral Dangle Earrings

A lovely pair of antique coral dangle earrings depicting a bird (likely a dove) resting above a cluster of grapes.

Coral was viewed as a protective stone during the Victorian period and these earrings are also rich with Christian symbolism -- a dove representative of hope or peace and grapes symbolizing rebirth, abundance, or the blood of Christ.

These earrings feature 10k gold ear wires, a coral bead, and a coral cameo consisting of four small carvings mounted on posts.

The earrings measure 1.5 inches (38mm) from the top of the ear wire to the bottom of the dangle. The bottom drop measures 0.7 inches (12.5mm) tall by 0.55 inches (14mm) wide. They are in very good condition; however, under magnification you can see evidence of a resin on the reverse of the earrings that was used to affix the birds to their posts.

Materials: coral, 10k gold, gold.
