Description

Lovely French antique Victorian earrings with hand cut paste in 18k gold! The perfect "something old" for a bride on her wedding day!

Glass was used since ancient times to adorn jewelry. Fine glass paste (as it is often known) was more than an imitation for fine gemstones. During the 18th century through the early 20th century, paste jewelry was often quite brilliant and virtually indistinguishable from its gemstone counterparts.
These mine cut foiled back paste earrings set in 18k yellow gold are of French origin. They feature back-to-front ear wires and 0.65 carat mine cut pastes (carat value was approximated based on diamond sizing).
The overall condition is very good; however, there is a slight difference in how the foil behind each paste has tarnished over time leading to a slight color variation when held side-by-side. This color variation is imperceptible when the earrings are worn. Additionally, there are some very minor nicks to the facets of the paste (visible upon magnification).
These earrings are 0.6 inches long and 0.2 inches wide. They bear the French Eagle's head hallmark for 18k and an unknown maker's mark.
