Description

Victorian jewelry was rich with symbolism. Each color, stone, material, and subject matter was carefully selected to convey a message. The snake motif, a symbol of love, was wildly popular throughout this time period.

This charming snake bracelet (circa 1870-1890) is a true beauty! The snake's head features a hand-etched floral pattern, two large almandine carbuncle garnets and two smaller garnet eyes, and an old mine cut diamond of approximately 0.25 carat (VS2 clarity) in its mouth. The bracelet features open-work links of graduated sizes, each with four hand pierced stars.
The bracelet is 7.5 inches long and weighs 19.7 grams. It is in very good condition; however, one of the links shows evidence of a past solder repair (as depicted in the photos) and the largest carbuncle garnet has surface reaching feather.
The bracelet is unmarked, but acid tests for 14k gold.

We mail all of our jewelry in individually package gift boxes and offer flexible layaway plans!
