Pins incorporating a crescent moon and flowers or grapes were popular love tokens during the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Such pins were referred to as "honeymoon" pins -- the flowers represented the nectar (honey) and the crescent symbolized the moon.
This pin, a lovely example of an early 20th century honeymoon jewelry, features an iridescent pink and yellow bloom with a glistening diamond accent draped atop a golden crescent moon. The brooch is unmarked, but acid tests for 10k gold.
This pin measures 1 inch from top to bottom by 0.9 inches tall. It is in good condition with a small bit of loss to the iridescent enamel near the center of the flower and on the top right petal.
