The magnificent and bold sapphire has been a prized gemstone since 800 BC, when rulers of ancient Persia believed the blue sky was a reflection of the stone's precious azure hue. Sapphire has long been a symbol of wisdom and royalty, just as it is today.
This elegant charm was originally an Art Deco cufflink (circa 1920-1925). The charm is a 14k gold (unmarked, but acid tested) and features a natural blue sapphire framed with bold black enamel. The reverse is engraved "V de J."
The charm measures 0.7 inches from top to bottom by 0.6 inches wide. It is in excellent condition.
