You'll fall in love with this miniature work of art masquerading as a pendant.
This stunning shakudo pendant features a three dimensional mixed metal scene of a quail meandering in a field of flowers. Shakudo is a Japanese mixed metal technique that involved an alloy of copper and gold that was treated to give it a dark black patina. Shakudo pieces were used to decorate armor and were later incorporated into jewelry and art.
This antique piece dates to the late 1800s; however, our jeweler mounted it in 14k gold and added a domed 14k gold back to transform it into a pendant.
The pendant measures 1.4 inches from top to bottom by 1.1 inches wide, and we are providing the option to purchase it with or without the 16 inch 14k gold chain depicted in the photos.
