An antique turquoise and pearl butterfly transformed into a whimsical necklace.
This butterfly was originally an silver scarf clip with a hinged body and moveable wings dating to the early 20th century. Our jeweler transformed the piece by removing the silver claws and welding on a sterling silver chain while preserving the spring and wing movement.
The reverse of the piece is marked GESCHUZT (indicating a German patent on the design). It is also marked "900" indicating that it is 900 silver -- slightly less than sterling which is 925/1000 parts silver.
The butterfly measures 1.3 inches wide by 0.7 inches tall and the total necklace length is approximately 17.5 inches. The piece is in great condition and all stones appear original to the piece.
Materials: Turquoise, Silver.
