Description

In ancient Egypt, amethyst, a violet form of quartz, was fabled to prevent drunkenness and provide clarity of thought. Amethyst was such a significant stone during ancient times that an amethyst signet ring was worn by the Egyptian pharaoh Cleopatra.

This lovely amethyst ring (circa 1975-1985) features a faceted oval shaped amethyst stone of approximately 2.5 carats. The amethyst is set into a rose gold setting with gorgeous open-work detail. The rise of the size 6 ring is approximately 10mm or 0.4 inches. It bears a Russian hallmark for 14k gold produced after 1965. It also bears an unidentified maker's mark.
This ring would be a great fashion accessory for someone with short fingers, since the oblong shape and high rise provide a slenderizing effect on the hand.
The ring is in great condition; however, there are the smallest nicks to the edges of three facets (visible only upon magnification). The weight is 5.5 grams.
We can re-size most rings free of charge. If a different size is desired, please contact our store for additional details and prices.

We mail all of our jewelry in individually package gift boxes and offer flexible layaway plans!
