Antique Pearl Talon Charm of 14k Gold

Originally an Edwardian-era stickpin (circa 1910), this piece was thoughtfully transformed by our jeweler into a pendant by removing the pin and adding a custom 14k gold jump ring bail.

The "ball and claw" motif has deep roots in ancient Chinese mythology, where a dragon’s claw grasping a sacred pearl symbolized the protection of wisdom and power from malevolent forces. Over time, this imagery evolved into a broader symbol of guardianship and safekeeping, embodying the idea of fiercely protecting what is most precious.

The charm measures 0.85 inches from the top of the jump ring to bottom by 0.3 inches wide and weighs 1.14 grams. It is offered in excellent antique condition, with crisp detailing and a beautiful shine.
