Antique Crab Stickpin with Pearl

A delightful antique stickpin (circa 1900), featuring a 14k gold crab accented with a single pearl. Animal motifs were especially popular at the turn of the 20th century, often chosen for their symbolic meanings as well as their visual charm; the crab is traditionally associated with protection, resilience, and intuition.

The crab motif is mounted on its original gold filled pin stem, consistent with period construction. The pin head measures approximately 0.5 inches by 0.4 inches wide, with the entire pin measuring 2.55 inches long and a total weight of 1.48 grams, offering a refined yet noticeable presence suitable for lapels, cravats, or collection display.

The gold has been professionally evaluated using XRF (X-ray fluorescence) analysis and confirmed with traditional jeweler’s acid testing, authenticating the 14k gold crab and gold filled pin. In great antique condition, this piece is offered either as a traditional stickpin or with the option to be converted into a charm for an additional charge, providing versatility while preserving its historic character and charm.
