Antique Lion or Chimera Stickpin of 12k and 14k Gold

A striking antique stickpin dating to 1900, designed as a finely sculpted lion or chimera crafted in 12 karat gold, accented with vivid tsavorite garnet eyes and a sparkling diamond held within its jaws. The figure is mounted on a 14 karat gold pin stem, creating a refined contrast between the sculptural head and the elegant elongated form of the pin.

The pin head measures 0.6 inches by 0.5 inches wide, with the entire stickpin measuring 2.75 inches in length and weighing 1.93 grams, offering a delicate yet distinctive presence when worn. It is presented in good antique condition; however, the pin stem appears to be a repair.

Gemstone identification has been confirmed using Raman spectroscopy, a non-destructive analytical technique that provides a precise chemical fingerprint to verify authenticity.

Metal authenticity has been professionally verified using XRF (X-ray fluorescence) analysis and traditional jeweler’s acid testing, confirming 12K gold for the figure and 14K gold for the pin stem. A rare and highly collectible example of antique figural jewelry.
