Antique Natural Amethyst Riviere Necklace of Gold

A striking and elegant antique rivière necklace (circa 1880), composed of graduated natural amethyst stones set in 15ct gold. The stones are arranged in classic rivière fashion, with subtly varying sizes that create a harmonious flow of color and light around the neckline. The rich violet hues of the amethysts offer depth and warmth, while the graduated design enhances the necklace’s graceful drape and visual balance.

Measuring approximately 16 inches long by 0.6 inches wide, the necklace sits beautifully along the collarbone, and its substantial 54-gram weight reflects the quality of materials and construction typical of fine 19th-century pieces.

The clasp is marked "15" and the gold has been professionally verified using XRF (X-ray fluorescence) analysis and confirmed with traditional jeweler’s acid testing, authenticating its predominant 15ct composition; however, five of the amethysts are set in a lower carat gold.
