GIA Certified Antique Ruby and Diamond Ring of Platinum and Gold

An exceptional antique ring (circa 1900), centered with a GIA-certified natural, untreated ruby weighing 1.12 carats. The oval cut ruby displays a vivid purple red hue and is framed by a graceful arrangement of 27 old European and old mine cut diamonds totaling 0.88 carats, graded G–H color and VS2–SI1 clarity. The lively brilliance of the antique diamonds beautifully complements the vibrant ruby, creating a striking and balanced composition.

The gemstones are mounted in platinum-topped 14k gold, a technique widely used at the turn of the 20th century to enhance the brilliance of diamonds while retaining the strength and warmth of gold beneath. The 18k gold band is a later replacement, added to ensure structural integrity and comfortable wear.

The face of the ring measures 1.2 inches by 0.6 inches wide, giving the piece a refined yet dramatic presence on the hand. It remains in great antique condition. Currently a size 5.5, the ring may be professionally resized for an additional charge. The ring weighs 6.3 grams.

Metal authenticity has been professionally verified using XRF (X-ray fluorescence) analysis and traditional jeweler’s acid testing, confirming platinum-topped 14k gold with an 18k gold replacement band.
