Antique Diamond Face Pendant of Platinum and Gold

A captivating antique pendant, centered with a molded glass “Man in the Moon” face set within a delicate circle of platinum openwork, accented throughout with sparkling diamonds. Celestial imagery was deeply popular at the turn of the 20th century, symbolizing mystery, romance, and the passage of time, and this piece beautifully captures that poetic fascination. The contrast between the ethereal face and the crisp brilliance of the diamond-set platinum creates a striking and harmonious composition.

Originally crafted as an antique brooch (circa 1900), the piece was expertly transformed by our jeweler by removing the original pin findings and adding 14k gold bail, allowing it to be worn as a pendant while preserving its historic integrity and proportions. The piece is platinum topped 15ct gold.

The pendant measures approximately 1.4 inches from the top of the bail to the bottom by 1.2 inches wide and weighs 7.09 grams, giving it a substantial yet elegant presence. The metals have been professionally evaluated using XRF (X-ray fluorescence) analysis and traditional jeweler’s testing, confirming the platinum front and 15k gold components. In great antique condition, this pendant is a superb example of turn-of-the-century celestial jewelry, ideal for collectors drawn to narrative imagery, fine diamond work, and thoughtfully executed antique conversions.
