Antique Ouroboros Pendant of 8k Gold

A rare and symbolically rich antique pendant, featuring an ouroboros—the ancient emblem of eternity, renewal, and the cyclical nature of life—crafted in 8k gold and encircling a warm carnelian plaque. Carnelian has long been associated with vitality, courage, and protection, making it a fitting companion to the ouroboros motif, which was especially meaningful in early 19th-century sentimental and philosophical jewelry.

Originally an antique pin (circa 1830), the piece was expertly transformed by our jeweler by removing the original pin findings and adding a discreet gold bail, allowing it to be worn as a pendant while preserving its historic character and proportions.

The pendant measures approximately 1.2 inches from the top of the bail to the bottom by 0.7 inches wide and weighs 3.48 grams.

The gold has been professionally evaluated using XRF (X-ray fluorescence) analysis and traditional jeweler’s testing, confirming its 8k composition, consistent with early 19th-century construction. In great antique condition, this pendant is a compelling example of Georgian-era symbolism, ideal for collectors who appreciate philosophical motifs, early goldwork, and thoughtfully executed antique conversions.
