Antique paste pieces often rivaled the beauty of their fine gemstone counterparts. In fact, the pliability of the glass allowed artisans to go beyond what was possible with carved gemstones and diamonds.

These 14k gold earrings (circa 1890-1910) feature faceted paste (glass) crystals of 6.5mm each. The earrings are unmarked, but acid test for 14k gold and have a 0.7 inch (12mm) drop length.

The earrings are in good condition; however, under magnification, you can see one chip underneath a prong and some chipping around the girdle of the paste.
