Antique Plique a Jour Enamel Ring with Pearl & Diamond

An exquisite Portuguese antique ring dating to circa 1900–1910, showcasing radiant blue plique-à-jour enamel formed as delicate fans. The translucent enamel, suspended within a fine gold framework that allows light to pass through like stained glass, displays exceptional luminosity and craftsmanship. The fans are edged with rose-cut diamonds, adding subtle brilliance, while two pearl accents provide soft contrast and period refinement.

The elongated face measures approximately 1.1 inches by 0.4 inches, creating an elegant, architectural presence on the hand. The ring is crafted in platinum-topped 19.2 karat gold, as marked—a standard fineness for antique Portuguese jewelry of this era—and it tests slightly higher on XRF, as is often encountered in period pieces. The platinum top provides a refined setting for the rose-cut diamonds while preserving the rich warmth of the high-karat gold beneath.

It bears a maker’s mark of “M.” While we have not been able to definitively attribute the mark to a specific workshop, the hallmarks indicate manufacture in the Porto region.
There are a few minor chips to the enamel surface near the center of the piece, visible only under magnification; these do not extend fully through the enamel and do not detract from the overall beauty of the design. The ring remains in very good antique condition, and weighs 4.20 grams.

Currently a size 6.5, the ring may be professionally resized for an additional charge. A rare and sophisticated example of early 20th-century Portuguese design, ideal for collectors of fine enamel work and distinctive antique jewelry.
