An extraordinary antique pendant dating to 1870–1890, centered with a finely carved moonstone depicting a baby’s face, ethereal in its soft translucence and luminous glow. The cherubic visage is framed within a bonnet of natural rubies and old mine cut diamonds, creating a richly detailed composition that reflects the sentimentality and craftsmanship of the late Victorian era. The interplay of moonstone’s adularescence with the brilliance of diamonds and the vivid warmth of rubies lends remarkable depth and dimension.
Originally created as an antique pin, the piece has been thoughtfully transformed by our jeweler through removal of the pin findings, allowing it to be worn as a pendant.
The pendant measures 1.25 inches from the top of the bail to the bottom and 0.7 inches wide, weighing 7.21 grams. It remains in great antique condition.
Metal authenticity has been professionally verified using XRF (X-ray fluorescence) analysis and traditional jeweler’s acid testing, confirming 18K gold.
