Victorian Garnet Snake Ring of 18k Gold

A remarkable Victorian ring (circa 1840-1860), designed as a finely sculpted snake crafted in 18 karat gold, crowned with a rose cut garnet and accented by two single cut diamond eyes. The sinuous form coils gracefully around the finger, embodying the serpent’s enduring symbolism of eternity, wisdom, and protection—motifs deeply significant in 19th-century jewelry. The garnet at the crown provides a vivid focal point, while the diamond eyes lend subtle sparkle and lifelike expression.

The face of the ring measures 0.6 inches north to south and weighs 8.68 grams, offering a substantial yet balanced presence on the hand. It is presented in great antique condition, with stones secure and detailing well preserved. Currently a size 9.25, the ring may be marginally resized for an additional charge.

Metal authenticity has been professionally verified using XRF (X-ray fluorescence) analysis and traditional jeweler’s acid testing, confirming solid 18K gold construction.

The gemstones were verified using Raman spectroscopy, a non-destructive analytical technique that produces a precise chemical “fingerprint” to confirm each stone’s identity and authenticity.
