This unique shakudō dragon pendant was originally a Japanese menuki—a decorative sword fitting—dating to the late 1800s. The finely detailed dragon, executed in traditional mixed metals, has been artfully transformed with a custom 14k gold backing and bail, allowing it to be worn as a striking pendant while preserving its historical essence.
The pendant measures 1.9 inches from top to bottom by 0.6 inches wide and is offered with a 16-inch 14k gold chain, creating a complete and ready-to-wear jewel. The gold components have been verified using XRF (x-ray fluorescence) analysis and traditional jeweler’s acid testing, ensuring purity and authenticity.
In very good condition, this jewel is a rare union of Japanese artistry and Western transformation, embodying both the spirit of Meiji-era craftsmanship and the enduring allure of mythological symbolism. An exceptional piece for collectors of cross-cultural or conversion jewelry.
Materials: 14k gold, mixed metal, shakudo.
