Antique Butterfly or Insect Pendant | Diamond Butterfly

During the 1800s discoveries by English naturalist Charles Darwin created quite an interest in jewelry fashioned after elements in the natural world, and women of the 1800s and early 1900s commonly adorned themselves with jeweled snakes, lizards, and bees.

This glittery butterfly pendant was originally an antique brooch (circa 1900-1910) transformed by removing the pin findings and welding on a 14k gold bail. The insect glitters with diamonds, pearls, a vibrant green emerald, and red glass eyes. The pendant is silver topped 10k gold.

The butterfly measures 1.1 inches from top to bottom by 1 inch wide and it is in very good condition. We are providing the option to purchase the piece with or without the 18 inch 14k gold chain depicted in the photos.
