This exceptional 14k gold pendant was once an antique brooch (circa 1870–1890) and has been thoughtfully converted for modern wear. It features a finely carved coral hand grasping a spring ring, with a delicately enameled sleeve showcasing decorative taille d’épargne detailing. The juxtaposition of coral, enamel, and gold reflects the romanticism and symbolic language of Victorian jewelry, where hands often represented friendship, fidelity, and love.
The pendant measures 1.4 inches from the top of the bail to the base by 1.1 inches wide. It is offered with an 18-inch 14k gold chain for immediate wear. The gold content has been verified via XRF (x-ray fluorescence) analysis and traditional jeweler’s acid testing, confirming purity and authenticity.
In very good condition, this jewel retains its rich Victorian charm, with only light wear consistent with age. A rare survivor of the 19th century, it makes a striking addition to a curated collection of antique symbolic jewelry.
