f540-A
Bold and symbolic, this finely wrought Victorian brooch (circa 1880) depicts a regal falcon perched upon a crescent moon, grasping a gem-studded chain in its beak. The dynamic design reflects the Victorian fascination with celestial and natural motifs, with the falcon symbolizing power and vision, while the crescent moon embodies femininity and renewal.
Crafted in 18k gold (unmarked, but acid tested and XRF analyzed), the brooch features a delicate dangle accented with a vibrant ruby, sparkling diamonds, and a post-set pearl. Together, these elements create a jewel of striking movement and presence.
Measuring approximately 2 inches wide by 1.1 inches high, the brooch remains in very good condition, with evidence of a past repair near the hinge (visible only under magnification) and a small chip to the ruby (also visible under magnification).
The gold content has been professionally verified using both X-ray fluorescence (XRF) analysis and jeweler’s acid testing, ensuring authenticity and quality.
Materials: Gold, Diamond, ruby, pearl, 18k gold.
