Antique Chalcedony and Gemstone Bug Pendant on 14k Gold

During the 1800s discoveries by English naturalist Charles Darwin created quite an interest in jewelry fashioned after elements in the natural world. Women of the 1800s and early 1900s commonly adorned themselves with gem-set snakes, lizards, and bees.

This marvelous chalcedony pendant features a gem encrusted bee. The pendant was originally a 14k gold brooch (circa 1880-1900) transformed by the removal of the pin findings and the addition of a 14k gold & diamond bail. The insect has diamond wings, a sapphire abdomen, and pearl thorax.

The pendant measures 1.7 inches from top to bottom by 1.2 inches wide, and it is in excellent condition. We are providing the option to purchase the pendant with or without the 18 inch 14k gold chain depicted in the photos.

Materials: Diamond, Gold.
