Antique Reverse Painted Crystal Flower Pendant of 14k Gold

A delicate celebration of botanical artistry, this converted antique pendant (circa 1900) features a finely executed reverse-painted rock crystal—a technique also known as Essex crystal—depicting three vibrant chrysanthemums in shades of blue, pink, and yellow. Each bloom is rendered in exquisite detail beneath a domed crystal surface with a mother of pearl background, giving the image lifelike depth and dimension.

Originally a brooch, the piece was professionally transformed by our jeweler, who removed the pin findings and added a custom 14K gold bail, giving the artwork new life as a wearable pendant. The setting is crafted in solid 14 karat gold, professionally verified through X-ray fluorescence (XRF) and traditional jeweler’s acid testing to ensure authenticity.

Measuring approximately 1.2 inches from the top of the bail to the base and 0.9 inches wide, the pendant weighs 6.35 grams and remains in excellent antique condition, with the crystal painting crisp and well-preserved.

A rare and wearable example of Edwardian-era botanical jewelry, this pendant is ideal for collectors of Essex crystal, floral themes, or antique jewelry transformations that retain their original charm while gaining fresh versatility.
