Antique Sapphire Spider Brooch of Platinum & 14k Gold

This antique brooch (circa 1890–1900) features a finely detailed spider poised on a platinum topped 14k gold bar. The body is composed of a vivid 0.58ct sapphire and a glittering 0.30ct old mine cut champagne colored diamond, accented by two tiny ruby eyes that bring the creature to life. Spiders were a popular motif in late Victorian and Edwardian jewelry, symbolizing creativity, patience, and good fortune.

The brooch measures 1 inch by 2.7 inches across and weighs 5.68 grams. The metal content has been verified through XRF (x-ray fluorescence) analysis and traditional jeweler’s acid testing, confirming purity and integrity.

The pin is in great condition; however, the sapphire has a non-surface reaching internal cleave visible upon magnification.
