These distinctive earrings were created from antique Shibayama game pieces (circa 1880), a Japanese decorative art form celebrated for its intricate inlay work. Our jeweler carefully cut the pieces into elegant ovals, mounted them in 14k gold, and completed the design with sapphire surmounts and 14k gold ear wires. The result is a pair of earrings that beautifully fuses history, craftsmanship, and modern wearability.
Each earring measures 1 inch from the top of the ear wire to the base by 0.3 inches across, offering a graceful drop with refined proportions. The gold has been authenticated through XRF (x-ray fluorescence) analysis and traditional jeweler’s acid testing, confirming purity and integrity.
In excellent condition, these earrings represent both the artistry of 19th-century Japan and the creativity of contemporary transformation—making them a one-of-a-kind addition to a curated collection.
Materials: 14k gold, sapphire.
