Antique Talon with Diamond Charm | Antique Claw Charm

The use of a "ball and claw" motif originated from ancient Chinese mythology. In ancient times, a dragon's claw clutching a jewel or stone was said to protect the treasure from evil forces attempting to steal it. Centuries later, this motif symbolizes safekeeping of the object it holds.

This eye catching talon pendant was originally an antique 14k gold stick pin (circa 1890-1915). Our jeweler transformed the stick pin stem into a charm by removing the pin and adding a 14k gold jump ring bail.

The pendant features a talon or claw grasping a glistening diamond. It measures 0.7 inches from top to bottom and is 0.25 inches wide, and is in very good condition.

Materials: Diamond, Gold.
