Antique Turquoise and Pearl Insect Pin | 14k Gold Insect Brooch

Victorians were fascinated with naturalism and brought their flora and fauna indoors in the form of terrariums and small greenhouses. Victorian women were also known to wear jewelry inspired by plants and animals -- including necklaces, earrings, and bracelets made to look like insects, bugs, and flowers.

This antique pin (circa 1880-1900) features a family of insects that swing from a golden pin. The pin is 14k gold (unmarked, but acid tested) and the insects are accented with turquoise cabochons and half pearls.

The pin measures 1.65 inches wide by 1.9 inches tall. It is unmarked, but acid tests for 14k gold and is in excellent condition.

Materials: Turquoise, Gold.
