Georgian Mourning Ring of 14k Gold

A perfect treasure for anyone with an appreciation of antique mourning jewelry!

This finely detailed ring features a hand painted sepia and macerated hair scene depicting a woman gazing mournfully at an urn on a plynth beneath a weeping willow tree.

We found the piece as a 10k gold bar pin; however the pin was not original to the piece, so our jeweler removed it and added a 14k gold band. He did this carefully and thoughtfully so as to preserve the original engraving on the reverse.

The piece commemorates the passing of a young woman. The reverse is engraved - 'Elizabeth Cooper Died Nov 7th 1798 aged 20 years."

The face of the ring measures 1 inch from top to bottom by 0.6 inches wide, and it is in good condition with some past moisture residue noticeable on the bottom left side of the ring. The ring is a size 6, but it can be re-sized free of charge.

Note: The ring box in the photo is for display purposes only and is not included with the ring.

Materials: 14k gold, 10k gold.
