The maiden harp -- with a woman's head and chest-- became a standard symbol of Ireland's political struggles during the 18th century, as it was adopted by several political and revolutionary movements.
This finely rendered maiden harp brooch would be a wonderful gift for anyone of Irish heritage or with a love of music. The golden harp (circa 1970) is solid 18k gold and accented with rubies and a pearl.
The piece measures 1.45 inches from top to bottom by 1.1 inches wide, and it weighs 11 grams. The brooch is marked 18k on the reverse and it is in excellent condition.
Materials: Ruby, Gold.
