Antique Diamond Snake Ring of 14k Gold

A bold and symbolic antique ring (circa 1890-1900), this sculptural serpent design was crafted in 14 karat gold by Larter & Sons. The sinuous form wraps gracefully across the finger, embodying the enduring symbolism of eternity, transformation, and protection—motifs especially beloved in late Victorian jewelry. Three old European cut diamonds crown the serpent’s head, drawing the eye to its expressive focal point with a refined brilliance.

The diamonds have a combined total weight of approximately 0.66 carats and display G–H color and VS clarity. Their authenticity has been confirmed using Raman spectroscopy, a non-destructive technique that provides a distinct gemstone “fingerprint.”

Measuring 0.6 inches north to south, the ring has a striking, dimensional presence on the hand, while its weight of 10.03 grams gives it a substantial yet balanced feel. It remains in great antique condition, with stones secure and the goldwork beautifully preserved.

Currently a size 9, the ring may be professionally resized for an additional charge.

Metal content has been professionally verified through both XRF (X-ray fluorescence) analysis and traditional jeweler’s acid testing, confirming solid 14K gold construction. A powerful and highly collectible example of Victorian symbolic jewelry.
