Antique Georgian Enamel Patch Box

A treasured token of affection from the Georgian era, this antique patch box (circa 1780–1800) exemplifies the charm and sentimentality of 18th-century gift-giving. These diminutive enamel boxes were commonly exchanged between loved ones and often featured poetic inscriptions or romantic imagery on the outside, while the inside held small patches of gummed taffeta used to conceal blemishes or embellish one’s complexion.

This particular example is fashioned in rich cobalt blue and white enamel, its oval lid bearing the touching phrase, “Remember me when this you see,” above a delicately painted basket of flowers. The message speaks to enduring affection and memory, hallmarks of sentimental Georgian mementos.

Measuring 1.25 inches tall by 1.6 inches wide and 0.9 inches deep, the box is in great antique condition, with only minor wear to the enamel consistent with its age and use.

Beautifully preserved and full of poetic resonance, this patch box would make a meaningful addition to any collection of Georgian enamelware, sentimental jewelry objects, or decorative arts.

Materials: Enamel, Metal.
