Antique Griffin Earrings of 14k Gold

A striking pair of earrings featuring finely rendered griffins (or dragons) of 14 karat gold, each accented with vivid ruby eyes and diamonds. The mythical creatures are rendered with expressive detail, embodying themes of strength, protection, and fantasy that were especially favored in late 19th-century design.

These earrings were thoughtfully created by our jeweler from a pair of antique cufflinks (circa 1890-1900), with the addition of 14 karat gold ear wires and diamond-set surmounts, allowing the original elements to be worn in a dramatic and elegant new form.

Each earring measures 1.6 inches from the top of the ear wire to the bottom and 1 inch wide, with a combined weight of 10.20 grams, offering substantial presence and graceful movement. They are presented in great condition, with stones secure and detailing well preserved.

Metal authenticity has been professionally verified using XRF (X-ray fluorescence) analysis and traditional jeweler’s acid testing, confirming solid 14K gold construction. A bold and highly collectible example of antique figural jewelry reimagined for modern wear.

Gemstone identification has been confirmed using Raman spectroscopy, a non-destructive analytical technique that provides a precise chemical fingerprint to verify authenticity.
