Antique Mourning Ring 15k Gold Top with 20k Band

A rare and poignant work of sentimental art, this antique mourning ring (circa 1800-1830) features an exquisitely detailed hair work scene of two men standing outside a gazebo beneath a weeping willow tree — a powerful Victorian symbol of grief, remembrance, and eternal love. The hand-painted miniature is beautifully preserved beneath crystal, capturing the emotional depth and craftsmanship characteristic of 19th-century mourning jewelry.

The face of the ring measures approximately 0.5 inches by 0.4 inches wide and remains in great antique condition, with the miniature intact and the setting well preserved. Given the differences in metal content between the top and band, we suspect that the band is a later addition to the piece.

Currently a size 6.5, the ring can be professionally resized upon request for an additional charge. For assurance of authenticity and quality, the gold has been professionally tested using X-ray fluorescence (XRF) analysis and traditional jeweler’s acid testing, confirming that the top is 15k gold, while the band is 20k.

A remarkable example of Victorian sentimental jewelry, this mourning ring is not only a testament to love and loss but also to the exceptional artistry of the period — a meaningful addition to any serious collection of antique jewelry or memorial art.
