Add a touch of sophisticated elegance to any ensemble with this exquisite flower basket jewel by the renowned Carter Gough & Co. of Newark, NJ, a firm celebrated for its artistry and refined enamel work.
Dating to the early 1900s, this versatile piece can be worn as either a pendant or a brooch. The basket motif is beautifully accented with green machine-turned guilloché enamel, a golden floral arrangement, and tiny natural seed pearls, evoking the delicacy and refinement of the Edwardian era. The reverse is stamped with both a 14k gold hallmark and the Carter Gough maker’s mark, underscoring its authenticity and provenance.
The pendant measures 1.3 inches from the top of the bail to the base by 1.1 inches wide and remains in excellent condition. The gold content has been verified through XRF (x-ray fluorescence) analysis and traditional jeweler’s acid testing, ensuring purity and quality.
Accompanied by the 23-inch 14k gold chain shown in the photographs, this jewel offers remarkable versatility, seamlessly transitioning from day to evening while carrying with it the grace of a bygone era.
Materials: enamel, 14k gold, pearl, guilloche enamel.
