Antique Georgian Patch Box

This antique, Georgian era patch box (circa 1780-1800) features pink enamel with a painting of an old Italian port.

The piece measures 1.5 inches by 1.9 inches wide and 1.25 inches high. It is in fair condition with wear to the pink enamel at the base and to the white enamel on the interior.

During the 18th century, patch boxes were common love tokens. The tiny porcelain boxes often expressed beautiful sentiments on the outside, while the inside held patches of gummed taffeta, used to cover blemishes or to decorate one's skin.

Materials: Metal, Enamel.
