Antique Lapis Lazuli and Diamond Swallow Bird Earrings

Swallows were a common motif in Victorian and Edwardian jewelry symbolic of faithful love and a safe return home.

These outstanding swallow earrings (circa 1900-1915) feature tiny diamond accented swallows riveted into vibrant blue lapis. The swallow drops are each surmounted by a collet set diamond and lapis bead for dramatic effect.

The earrings are unmarked, but the wires test for 10k gold while the swallow portion of the earrings tests for 14k gold. The earrings measure 1.2 inches from the top of the ear wire to the base of the dangles by 0.5 inches wide. They are in good condition with some light hairline scratching to the lapis dangles (visible only under magnification).

Materials: lapis lazuli, lapis, 14k gold, diamond.
