The horseshoe is one of the most prominent symbols of luck in the world. It's popularity as lucky emblems dates back centuries, when horseshoes were supposedly used to fend off evil spirits.
This antique locket pendant (circa 1870-1890) is adorned with a ruby and pearl studded horseshoe and a belt accented with rose cut diamonds. The locket is 14k gold (unmarked, but acid tested) and opens and closes securely. It has its original frames and coverings, and the reverse is engraved "TM" or "MT."
The locket measures 2.3 inches from top to bottom by 1.4 inches wide, and it is in excellent condition.
