Antique REGARD Ring of 12k Gold

A charming and historically significant ring dating to 1860, set with a sequence of gemstones spelling the acrostic word “REGARD”: Ruby (R), Emerald (E), Garnet (G), Amethyst (A), Ruby (R), and Diamond (D). Popular during the Victorian era, REGARD rings were given as tokens of affection, with the gemstones themselves conveying a hidden message of love and devotion.

The colorful arrangement creates a lively and sentimental composition, with each gemstone contributing its own distinctive hue and character. The ring is mounted in 12 karat gold and engraved "March 21, 1860" on the interior of the band.

The face of the ring measures 0.2 inches north to south and weighs 2.16 grams, offering a delicate and elegant presence on the hand. It is presented in good condition with some surface wear to the emerald and garnet visible under magnification. Also, the stones are of irregular size and the ruby is a later replacement.

Currently a size 6.5, the ring may be professionally resized for an additional charge.

Gemstone identification has been confirmed using Raman spectroscopy, a non-destructive analytical technique that provides a precise chemical fingerprint to verify authenticity.

Metal authenticity has been professionally verified using XRF (X-ray fluorescence) analysis and traditional jeweler’s acid testing, confirming that it is 12k gold.
