A striking ring featuring a finely detailed shakudo dragon dating to around 1850, showcasing the distinctive craftsmanship of traditional Japanese metalwork. Shakudo is a copper-gold alloy traditionally treated to develop a rich, dark patina, providing a dramatic backdrop for intricate figural designs. The shakudo element was originally part of a kashira, or sword hilt fitting, and has been thoughtfully transformed by our jeweler into a wearable ring. It was mounted with a 10K gold backing and a custom 14K gold band. This thoughtful transformation allows the antique metalwork to retain its character and history while giving it a distinctive new form as a statement jewel.
The ring face measures approximately 1.3 inches by 0.65 inches wide, and the ring weighs 9.15 grams. It is currently a size 6 and can be professionally resized for an additional charge. The ring remains in great antique condition.

Metal authenticity has also been professionally verified using XRF (X-ray fluorescence) analysis and traditional jeweler’s acid testing, confirming the shakudo construction of the original dragon element, the 10K gold backing, and the 14K gold band.
