Georgian Flat Cut Garnet Ring of 9ct Gold and Silver

A beautiful Georgian era ring (circa 1780-1830), centered with a striking pear-shaped flat-cut almandine garnet (representative of a heart) and six diamond accents, mounted in silver with a 9ct gold band. The garnet displays a rich, deep red wine hue, while its flat-cut form reflects the distinctive gem-cutting techniques of the Georgian period, where stones were prized for their dramatic color and candlelit glow rather than modern brilliance.

The face of the ring measures 0.5 inches by 0.4 inches wide and weighs 2.22 grams, creating a delicate yet eye-catching presence on the hand. It is presented in great antique condition; however, the ring shank is a later replacement and there is some very light surface wear to the garnet. Currently a size 5.25, the ring may be professionally resized for an additional charge.

Gemstone identification has been confirmed using Raman spectroscopy, a non-destructive analytical technique that provides a precise chemical fingerprint to verify authenticity. Metal authenticity has been professionally verified using XRF (X-ray fluorescence) analysis and traditional jeweler’s acid testing, confirming silver and 9ct gold construction.
