Pink Enamel Dog Rose Flower Brooch | 14k Gold Flower Brooch

The dog rose, with its soft pink hue, is a symbol of both pleasure and pain. The flower's association with pleasure dates back to medieval times when dog rose flowers were placed at the end of a maiden's bed to signify a king's interest in her company that evening. The pain associations come from the belief that the flower could be used to cure the bite of a mad dog.

This substantial 14k gold enamel dog rose brooch dates to the 1920s. The brooch is accented with vibrant pink and white enamel and holds a lustrous pearl at its center. The piece can be worn as either a brooch or a pendant.

The flower measures 1.6 inches from top to bottom by 1.45 inches wide and is marked 14k on the reverse with an unknown maker's mark. The piece is in outstanding condition.

Materials: Diamond, Gold.
