Vintage Mad Money Charm of 14k Gold

This whimsical vintage charm (circa 1960–1970) is a delightful miniature box crafted in 14k gold with the engraved message “In emergency break glass” boldly displayed on the front. It bears a tiny golden hammer and inside, a cleverly folded one dollar bill—ready to “save the day” in a playful nod to mid-century novelty design.

The charm measures 0.7 inches from the top of the jump ring to the bottom (excluding the dangling hammer), by 0.55 inches wide and 0.4 inches deep. While the piece is in good condition overall, one of the original plexiglass coverings is missing, exposing the bill slightly, and resulting in minor visible wear to the currency on that side. Despite this imperfection, the charm retains its vintage charm and character.

The gold has been tested using both XRF analysis and traditional jeweler’s acid testing to confirm its 14k purity. This collectible is a fun and conversation-worthy addition to any charm bracelet or vintage jewelry collection.
